What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear 150341-5085 is a clear fitted protective case made specifically for Samsung Galaxy S23+. Its transparent impact-cushioning construction, raised screen and camera edges, Perfect-Clear treatment and built-in MICROBAN® antimicrobial product treatment are designed for daily protection while leaving the phone visible.

Speck states protection in controlled drops from up to 13 ft, approximately 4 m. This is a test rating rather than assurance that the phone or case will remain undamaged in every fall; angle, surface, repeated impacts, wear and correct fit affect the result.
Perfect-Clear materials and coating are intended to resist UV-related discoloration and keep the case clear longer. They do not make transparent material permanently immune to yellowing or scratches; sunlight, heat, skin oils, grit and chemicals can still change its appearance.
The antimicrobial treatment is intended to reduce bacterial growth on the case surface. It does not protect the user or phone, sterilise the case or replace normal cleaning. Wipe with mild soap and water, dry fully and avoid solvents or abrasives.
Raised edges reduce direct contact on a flat surface but do not replace a separate screen or camera protector. Model-specific openings preserve normal access to buttons, speakers, cameras and USB-C; this case does not fit Galaxy S23, S23 Ultra or later similarly named models.
The slim design supports ordinary compatible Qi wireless charging when properly fitted. Charging speed and temperature depend on the phone, charger and anything trapped between them; remove cards or metal objects and stop if unusual heat develops.
