What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

X-Doria Raptic Shield is an iridescent protective case made only for iPhone 14 Pro Max. A real anodised-aluminium trim reinforces the perimeter, a clear polycarbonate back shows the phone, and a soft TPU interior with air pockets helps absorb and redirect impact.

The manufacturer specifies testing beyond MIL-STD-810G requirements for drops of up to 10 ft (about 3 m) onto concrete. Results under stated test conditions do not guarantee protection in every real fall.
Raised edges help keep the display and camera away from flat surfaces, while tactile nodes make the covered buttons easier to distinguish.
The case supports compatible MagSafe and Qi chargers at up to 15 W. Actual power, speed and temperature depend on the phone, charger, power supply and alignment.
The manufacturer states that MagSafe wallets and car mounts are not compatible with this model, even though MagSafe charging is supported.
The aluminium component is the perimeter trim; the clear rear panel is polycarbonate and the flexible shock-absorbing parts are TPU.
